The Locals called Martinique, Madinina Island of Flowers.The largest of the Windward Islands Martinique has been French since it was colonized. Chartering a yacht in Martinique will offer wonderful options for both secluded and busy anchorages; you may choose bays with fashionable resorts or sleepy waterfront villages or sail upon deserted bays with excellent snorkeling.
St. Pierre – Lies at the foot of the Mt. Pele volcano a breathtaking spot while the sunsets, this is truly one of the picturesque spots in the islands I witnessed while at anchorage. Excellent overnight anchorage and if you are thinking of going ashore you will not be disappointed. Two of the most interesting places to visit are the theater ruins beyond the museum and the prison where Cyparis was jailed.
You can dinghy a mile north to Le Guerin for lunch located on the historic site of the old Guerin Sugar Factory.
Case Pilote Sail into this lovely small town whose church is one of e oldest in Martinique. A picturesque fishing village offers an unspoiled and charming spot to spend the day exploring.
Fort De France The capitol of Martinique is the largest and most active city in the Windward’s. If you want to spend the day exploring the island of Martinique, Fort DeFrance offers the best transportation options to sightsee the entire island.
Trois Ilets - A photogenic town not yet overrun with visitors, this quaint and pleasant area offers excellent anchorages with a scenic and quiet atmosphere.
Local markets, general stores, post office and a creamery. Want to play golf? Trois Ilets is one of the few places in the islands to offer an 18-hole golf course.
Anse A L’Ane a charming bay with a wonderful beach. Excellent anchorage in good condition you can dine ashore just over the bridge to visit a pleasant inexpensive Asian Restaurant.
Grande Anse D’Arlet A wonderful picturesque village set on a white sand beach makes for a lovely overnight anchorage. The northern corner has a touch of the Rivera, with bright colored umbrellas and a walkway along the beach.
Snorkeling is interesting all along the southern shore, and between Grande Anse D’Arlet.
Ste. Anne A delightful tiny seaside town. Popular with tourists, this town has a holiday Atmosphere. A long beach with a back drop of the countryside is a delightful way to spend the day on this island. Plenty of restaurants offering mostly Creole food and plenty of quaint markets to provision if needed.
Marin One of the Caribbean’s largest yacht centers, this pleasant small town has a huge marina offering full service for any yachtsman. Laundry facilities, sandwich shops, post office. Sunsail base is located in Marin. Go ashore for plenty of shopping and landside activities to fill your day before returning to your yacht.
The largest of the English speaking, Windward’s St Lucia is lush with tropical rainforests, secluded coves, gorgeous white sandy beaches, and the soaring Pitons. St Lucia is perfect for hiking and sightseeing we highly recommend renting a car and exploring this island, you will not be disappointed. The most popular attractions are the plantation rainforest tours. It worth calling the Forestry department for the rainforest tours. St Lucia is well developed and offers an excellent marina’s and dining options.
Rodney Bay Head toward Cas-en-bas this is a wonderful beach a couple of miles from Rodney bay. It is walk able but taking a taxi will serve you better. A wonderful overnight anchorage, allow the chef to take the night off. An abundance of restaurants will surely your palate. Check out Pigeon Island for those who like to dive there is a pleasant 60 foot dive with staghorn coral, sponges and colorful reef fish.
Castries This town has burned down twice and is still trying to find its architectural style. The Coral streets have an interesting Creole fell with balconies, gingerbread and old and new buildings. A pleasant place to anchorage for the evening offering local Markets, and the local vendors delight those who love to shop for local foods and apparel.
Marigot Bay Home to the Moorings base this anchorage is a spectacular. Completely sheltered, makes this the perfect backdrop for the sunset happy hour enthusiasts. Marigot Bay offers fine dining and shopping when heading ashore.
Soufriere and The Pitons Soufiere is a picturesque small town set in a scenic wonderland dominated by the towering Pitons. Its exceptional beauty will delight the adventurous hiker and photographer. Plenty to do with lots of small restaurants, hiking and diving one can easily spend several nights enjoy this beautiful marine water park. Take time to go to the naturally hot Diamond baths, bring your towel and 15 EC to enjoy this natural wonder.
Carriacou “The island with one hundred rum shops and only one gasoline station” Frances Kay, Carriacou. Many new restaurants and facilities have emerged on Carracou. Over several years bareboat yacht companies have been emerging making for a great starting point for charter. Point of interest for a spectacular view is the hospital that sits high on the mountain overlooking the harbor. Take part of your day and hire a taxi to explore this enchanting island.
A beautiful island with lush green mountains crystal waterfalls, golden beaches and the fragrance of spice trees makes this a desirable yacht charter destination. Be sure to rent a car or take an island tour, and discover the natural wonders of this agricultural wonderland.

Grand Mal - A well protected anchorage most of the time. Water is clean and the long beach is worth taking a stroll. Dining ashore will allow you and your crew to taste the local flavor with reasonable prices. Visit the Tropicana in town which hangs out over the water and you can dine in the open air. Dinghy docks are available to tie up a nice place for a one night stay.
St George’s - When approaching from the north the harbor entrance remains hidden until you each it, on your left you will see Fort George.
St George is a busy place, a great place to provision; Foodland is a new Grocery store offering full air conditioning with and excellent supply of regular items and . you can tie right up to its own dinghy dock. St George is a Perfect destination for obtaining supplies before heading out on your yacht charter.
Grand Anse - A beautiful 2 mile white-gold sand beach waits you backed by shady palm trees and almond trees. Beyond the beach is plenty of shopping. Land your dinghy and check out the local shopping and take a bus to Spice Island Boatyard. Dining in Grand Anse can be a difficult choice with so many wonderful restaurants to choose from. For divers try Boss Reef better done as a drift dive with a dive shop. This reef will offer an amazing coral variety.
True Blue – Just west of Prickly Bay this is a beautiful bay colorful, clean which makes for a lovely anchorage for the evening. True Blue is “yachtie” friendly and has a dinghy dock adjacent to the small marina. A lovely casual waterfront restaurant with a bar will delight you and your crew for the evening.
Prickly Bay - Easy to enter but don’t get careless a reef lies in the middle and is marked by a red bouy. Anchorage is forbidden 600 feet of the beach as this is the swimming area and clearly marked with small bouys. Abundance of restaurants to choice from makes this another great spot to give the chef the night off.
